Teeth Whitening We use cutting-edge technology treatments to produce the desired results in about one hour. We whiten tooth by tooth by applying a gel that is cured by a very focused light, with no side effects for the patient. A sunscreen gel is then used to protect the gums, and it turns white during the process.

We use OPALESCENSE brand gel, which contains Carbamide Peroxide at 10%, with a Glycerin base. This product has been developed to whiten teeth safely under the supervision of a dentist.

The whitening treatment is effective on natural teeth but it doesn’t change the color of veneers and crowns that may already be in place, and due to aesthetical reasons, it’s likely that they might have to be replaced after the whitening process.
    Dental Cleaning

Dental SEALANTS are a plastic coating that fills the natural grooves of teeth.

It’s applied on healthy teeth and helps reinforce the natural enamel, thus preventing caries, since bacteria is not trapped in the tooth. This treatment is not painful and is applied in less than 3 minutes per tooth.

    Restoration
    What are Crowns and Bridges?
Crowns and most bridges are permanent prosthesis. Unlike removable prosthesis, which can be removed and cleaned daily, crowns and implants are fixed over the existing teeth or implants.
    How do crowns work?
A crown is used to completely cover a badly damaged or decayed tooth. It can also be used to improve the look, shape or alignment of the tooth. A crown can also be placed over an implant to achieve the functional shape and structure of a tooth. It’s even possible to match the color of a porcelain or ceramic crown with that of your natural teeth. Other materials include gold and metallic mixes, acrylic and ceramics. These alloys can prove to be more resistant than porcelains and are recommended for the back teeth. Zirconium is currently used in place of the different metals that had been used in the past because of its aesthetic qualities and for being more resistant than those metals. Dentists recommend a crown to: Replace large openings within a tooth. Prevent a weakened tooth from fracturing Repair a fractured tooth. Place a bridge. Cover a dental implant. Cover a faded or deformed tooth Cover a tooth that has been subject to a root canal
    How do bridges work?

A bridge may be recommended if you’re missing one or more teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint disorders. Bridges are commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth. They span the space where the teeth are missing. Bridges are cemented to the natural teeth or implants surrounding the empty space. These teeth, called abutments, serve as anchors for the bridge. A replacement tooth, called a pontic, is attached to the crowns that cover the abutments. As with crowns, you have a choice of materials for bridges, and porcelain or ceramic bridges can be matched to the color of your natural teeth.

How are crowns and bridges made?
Before either a crown or a bridge can be made, the tooth or teeth must be reduced in size so that the crown or bridge will fit over it properly. After reducing the tooth or teeth, we will take an impression to provide an exact mold for the crown or bridge. If porcelain is to be used, we will determine the correct shade for the crown or bridge to match the color of your existing teeth. Using this impression, a dental lab then makes your crown or bridge, in the material we specify. A temporary crown or bridge will be put in place to cover the prepared tooth while the permanent crown or bridge is being made. When the permanent crown or bridge is ready, the temporary crown or bridge is removed, and the new crown or bridge is cemented over your prepared tooth or teeth.

How long do crowns and bridges last?
While crowns and bridges might last a lifetime, they sometimes become loose or fall out. The most important step you can take to ensure the longevity of your crown or implant is to have a good oral hygiene. If the tooth or the bone that supports the implant becomes damaged because of a dental disease, the bridge might loose support. Keep your gums and teeth healthy by brushing with fluoride toothpaste twice a day and flossing daily. Also, you should visit us regularly for checkups and professional cleanings. To prevent damage to your new crown or bridge, avoid chewing hard foods, ice or other hard objects.

Specialties – Endodontics Teeth are kept alive by the pulp, which is a live tissue made up by cells and blood vessels inside the tooth that goes from the crown (the visible part) to the root (inside the bone, under the gum).

When the tooth’s pulp is affected, two situations may arise: the pulp may be irreversibly inflamed or even infected. These cause the pulp to lose its vitality and it becomes necessary to do a root canal.

In a root canal procedure, the diseased tissue is eliminated, and the inside of the tooth disinfected, and then conducts are filled or sealed. This prevents losing a tooth due to an infection.
    Orthodontics

ORTHODONTIC treatments are used to improve either the AESTHETICS or FUNCTION of the tooth. Aesthetically, teeth might look displaced, or its function because the joint is affected (producing headaches, loss of equilibrium and ear damage), chewing problems (it doesn’t allow for a normal bite), swallowing, and loss of teeth. It’s important to be aware of these symptoms and to visit us so we can diagnose whether it’s the bite or the alignment of your teeth what’s causing the problem.
    Periodontics

This specialty involves the diagnostic, treatment and prevention of gum sickness and of deeper tissues that serve as an anchor for teeth. This specialty ensures that teeth will preserve their function and aesthetics for a lifetime. After patients are diagnosed with periodontitis (gum swelling), 99% report they never felt pain. This is because the condition is usually not painful, but it slowly destroys the base that holds the tooth, putting it at risk. There are some signs that we have to be aware of and that will indicate that we need to visit our dentist: gum bleeding (painless), a growing space between teeth, sensibility to cold and halitosis (bad breath – actually, gum disease accounts for 90% of the causes of bad breath).
    Implants

What are dental implants?Dental implants are metal posts or frames that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums. Once in place, they allow your dentist to mount replacement teeth onto them. How do dental implants work?Implants fuse to your jawbone, providing stable support for artificial teeth. Dentures and bridges mounted to implants won’t slip or shift in your mouth, which is an especially important benefit when eating and speaking. This secure fit helps the dentures and bridges (as well as individual crowns placed over implants) feel more natural than conventional bridges or dentures. For some people, ordinary bridges and dentures are simply not comfortable due to sore spots, poor ridges or gagging. Furthermore, ordinary bridges must be attached to teeth on either side of the space left by the missing tooth. An advantage of implants is that no adjacent teeth need to be prepared or ground down to hold your new replacement tooth or teeth in place. To receive implants, you need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant. You must also commit to keeping these structures healthy. Meticulous oral hygiene and regular dental visits are critical to the long-term success of dental implants.
Implants are usually more expensive than other methods of tooth replacement, and most insurance carriers typically cover less than 10 percent of the fees. The American Dental Association considers two types of implants to be safe.Endosteal implants: these are surgically implanted directly into the jawbone. Once the surrounding gum tissue has healed, a second surgery is needed to connect a post to the original implant. Finally, an artificial tooth (or teeth) is attached to the post, whether individually, or grouped on a bridge or denture.Subperiosteal implants: these consist of a metal frame that is fitted onto the jawbone just below the gum tissue. As the gums heal, the frame becomes fixed to the jawbone. Posts, which are attached to the frame, protrude through the gums. As with endosteal implants, artificial teeth are then mounted to the posts.
    Prosthodontics

    Porcelain Crowns
Crowns or porcelain covers protect the whole tooth, simulating its natural anatomy. They can be made either with porcelain only, or with a core from some other material to give it more strength, like metals or more recently zirconium.Crowns are made with a material so resistant that may even last for more than 50 years. However, due to the natural wear induced by chewing, sometimes they lose their shape or become dull. In this cases, if the patient wishes so, the crown is extracted a new one is put into place.

Pediatric Dentistry After turning two, children must pay their first visit to the dentist, who will provide their parents with all the information regarding the oral care that their child needs. It’s also important to generate adequate hygiene habits, which are necessary to reach adulthood with a beautiful and healthy smile. It’s extremely important for parents to consider the fact that they must team up with the dentist, following all of his recommendations, which will in turn allow the child to enjoy the preventive benefits that dentistry provides children, such as fluoride, sealants and adequate oral health habits.
      Oral surgery

The extraction of wisdom teeth is the most common treatment for this specialty, although other treatments include: extraction of trapped teeth or gums disease.
      What are wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth are the last molars on each side of the jaws. They are also the last teeth to emerge, or erupt, usually when a person is between 16 and 20.Since wisdom teeth are the last permanent teeth to erupt, there is often not enough room left to accommodate them. This can lead to teeth being trapped (by other teeth or by the bone). If teeth are impacted, swelling and tenderness in the area may occur. Wisdom teeth that only partially emerge or come in crooked can also lead to painful crowding and disease. Since teeth removed before age 20 have less developed roots and fewer complications, the American Dental Association recommends that people between 16 and 19 have their wisdom teeth evaluated to see if they need to be removed.
      How are wisdom teeth removed?
A tooth extraction is a relatively routine procedure. We recommend local anesthesia to numb the area during the procedure. After the tooth (or teeth) is removed, we will ask you to bite down softly on a piece of gauze for 30 to 45 to stop the bleeding. Some pain and swelling may occur but it will normally go away after a few days. Removal of wisdom teeth due to crowding or impaction should not affect your bite or oral health in the future.
      Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry is a specialty that treats all alterations and pathologies of the oral morphology to achieve a beauty cannon that fits the standards of modern society.
      PORCELAIN CAPS
Porcelain caps are restorations that cover the front of the tooth, almost always with an aesthetic functionality.
They improve the aspect of our patients, since they allow the modification of the shape, position and color of the teeth, even in complicated cases. It’s the most conservative method used to modify the aesthetics of the smile, as it’s the one that degrades less the tooth.Resistance to abrasion, wear and fracture is much higher than with composite resin restorations. They’re also resistant to oral fluids and alcohol, and they’re very biocompatible. They maintain their color and brightness, and make a great fit to the tooth’s margin. They’re homogeneous, so they’re not affected by plaque or get stained, and their bond to the enamel is very strong. Their perfectly polished surface hinders the formation of plaque, improving the periodontal health.

Bottled water and fluoride If I drink bottled water, am I getting enough fluoride?
If bottled water is your primary source of drinking water, you may not be getting enough fluoride. While fluoride is added to public water supplies to reduce tooth decay, the majority of bottled waters on the market do not contain optimal levels (0.7-1.2 part per million) of fluoride.
A number of factors affect whether or not you’re getting enough fluoride, including:
      – The fluoride level in your bottled water, which can vary greatly by brand. If the fluoride content does not appear on the label, contact the company and ask
      – The amount of bottled water you drink during the day.
      – Whether you use bottled water for drinking, cooking or reconstituting soups, juices and other drinks
      – Whether you also drink fluoridated water at school, work or elsewhere.
      – If you drink mostly bottled water, you should talk to your dentist about whether you need supplemental fluoride treatments, especially if you have children. We may recommend fluoride drops if we feel your child is not receiving adequate levels of fluoride.

I had been seeing a top Dentist in NYC for years but have recently moved to Jalisco. I chipped a front tooth badly and asked my NYC dentist if he knew a good dentist in Mexico and he recommended Dr Benjamin Valle. Dr Benjamin couldn’t have been better! He took me on short notice and did the most excellent job of repairing my front tooth. Courteous, professional and clean office. I am so happy to have found such an excellent dentist in Puerto Vallarta.

Visited Dr. Valle for a root canal recently. Very courteous and professional. Arrived for a Wednesday 10 am appt. Promptly took an X-ray and confirmed procedure, in excellent English. Part 1 completed by noon, cleaned, filled and temporary crown in place. paid 50% at that time. 5% processing fee on credit card. Returned Friday for a 20 minute appt. to put in the Permanent crown. Paid the balance of the bill. lees than 50% of the quoted cost in Canada. Virtually painless experience..took on extra strength Tylenol just in case..but no issues. Ate and drank as usual although advised to avoid gum, hard foods and chew on the other side of my mouth until the permanent crown was in place. Looking forward to my next root canal vacation

I had three or four teeth on my right lower side that were bothering me for months. They are from old cavities that I had when I was little that broke down from using high fluoride toothpaste and they would have turned into cavities again. I visited the dentist here in January. He was so professional, explained the options so well, and it was painless. My mouth feels so much better and I’m so grateful to the staff! Thank you!!
