Russia-bound Azerbaijan flight J2-8243 crashes in Kazakhstan, Over 60 passengers and crew onboard

An Embraer EMBR3.SA passenger plane flying from Azerbaijan to Russia crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan on December 25. According to preliminiary reports, 67 passengers and five crew were on board, Kazakh authorities announced, saying 12 people had survived, reported Reuters. Russian news agencies said the plane was operated by Azerbaijan Airlines and had been flying from Baku to Grozny in Russia’s Chechnya, reported Reuters. Russian news agencies said the plane had been rerouted due to fog in Grozny. According to Reuters, Kazakh Authorities had begun looking into different possible versions of what had happened, including a technical problem, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported.
