When can conscious sedation be performed?

All our specialist dentists have been working with this technique for years. Conscious sedation facilitates treatment, especially dental implants, for both patients and the dentist.

Pregnancy, benzodiazepine allergy, alcoholism, central nervous system depression or some cases of glaucoma are some of the contraindications to conscious sedation.

Therefore, before performing dental treatment with conscious sedation , at our Clinic the patient is evaluated to determine if this procedure can be used according to their physical and psychological health status.

In healthy or medically stable patients this consists of a review of the clinical history and medications in use . However, in patients with significant medical considerations this step may require consultation with their primary care physician or specialist physician and consultation with the anesthesiologist.
