Während der Corona-Pandemie wurde für das Pflegepersonal auf den Intensivstationen deutscher Kliniken geklatscht. Ein gutes Jahr nach dem offiziellen Ende der Pandemie ist das Thema aus dem Fokus der Öffentlichkeit geraten – dabei werden die Herausforderungen innerhalb der Krankenhäuser eher größer. Vor allem das fehlende Pflegepersonal sorgt für Probleme: Die Deutsche Krankenhausgesellschaft schätzt, dass aktuell allein auf Intensivstationen mehr als 10.000 Pflegestellen unbesetzt sind.

PULS Reporterin Ariane Alter will herausfinden: Wie hart ist der Job auf der Intensivstation wirklich? Und: Was müsste sich ändern, damit ihn endlich mehr Leute machen wollen? Dafür arbeitet sie zwei Tage auf der Intensivstation einer Münchner Klinik mit und begleitet den Alltag von Pflegefachfrau Maria Winkelbauer und Pflegedienstleitung Barbara Munro-Zorn.
