　北海道の市街地を歩く体長2メートルのヒグマ。出没した町ではヒグマの目撃が相次ぎ、先月31日も別のクマがカメラに捉えられていました。

■市街地に“巨大ヒグマ”目撃者語る

　住宅のすぐ目の前に現れたのは体長2メートルほどの巨大なヒグマ。大きなおなかを揺らしながら雨のなかをノシノシと歩いていきます。雄の成獣とみられます。

「映像を見る限りかなり大型な個体。季節的には最も痩せている時期だが、そのころでも200キロ前後の体重はある」

　北海道北部の枝幸町。29日午後10時半ごろ、市街地を徘徊（はいかい）するヒグマの姿を複数のカメラが捉えました。店舗の出入口にも近付く異常な事態。

　北海道は31日、町内全域に「ヒグマ注意報」を発表しました。

　コンビニ店を出た後に巨大なヒグマを車から目撃した地元の漁師・戸田朝日さん（24）です。

「本当にでっかいし、やばいなと思って。見て分かるが住宅も多いので、これはまずいなと思った。あのサイズは初めて見た」

　すぐ近くの自動車販売店の防犯カメラにも同じヒグマの姿が…。ウロウロと徘徊し、出入口の近くを通り過ぎていきます。別のカメラには右側にヒグマ。左側に見えるライトは戸田さんの車です。

「こんな町中に出てくるのは初めて。こっちを気にする
素振りも見せず、変わらないペースでずっとテクテク歩いてのらりくらり徘徊していた。不気味。夜なので本当に怖い」

■“出没の町”緊迫　きのうもヒグマ3頭が

　巨大なヒグマが現れたのは町の中心部の住宅街です。町内の目撃情報は7月に27件、今年全体の6割に上ります。31日は公園の近くに親子のヒグマが現れました。

「きのうはここの中でクマが出たみたい。結構、広い林になっているが母グマと子グマが2頭出たみたいで」

　町内では、これまでも親子のヒグマが度々、出没。31日も親子とみられるヒグマ3頭が目撃され、住民がその姿をカメラに捉えました。

「警察、役場の車がずらっとここに。警察もアナウンスを掛けて緊迫した感じで。猟友会がライフルを持って中に入って」

　緊迫の捕獲作戦、その結末は…。

「この中に入ってバーンと発砲の音が聞こえて、それで撃たれたらしい」
「（Q.音は聞いた？）バーンと聞こえたので、あ、撃ったねと。住宅も多いので本当に危ない」

　枝幸町役場によりますと、母グマとみられる個体を捕獲して駆除したといいます。

「今、森の中ではクマの餌（えさ）が非常に乏しい季節に入ってきている。そのなかで餌を探して歩いている状況」

　今年の8月は市街地での出没が増える恐れがあるとして、専門家は注意を呼び掛けています。
